Izzie's First Fever

Hey Kiddo,

Yesterday we experienced your first fever. You were a bit fussier than usual and felt a little warm, so we decided to take your temperature. 100 degrees. You're still a little one and the doctor said that if it gets to 100.4 we should call him. Well, we decided to call the doctor anyway, and good thing we did, because there was a 2.5 hour callback time and your fever did spike up to 100.5 before the doctor called back. Anyhow, during that time, we tried to make you as comfortable as possible. You were not a happy camper, but you still wanted to eat very often - so that made us happy. How bad can it be when you were so hungry? We woke up every few hours during the night to take your temperature and finally at 2 in the morning your temp went down to 99.2 and we finally started to relax. The doctor said to continue to monitor you closely and we agreed to take you to the doctors office in the morning. Well this morning, you did great. They measured you at 99 degrees, and the doctor said you looked like a happy camper. Also, you were super lucky, because if it had just been a couple days earlier, you would've been less than 60 days old, and we would've had to take you to the hospital and do some not fun things like spinal taps and blood tests. I know you don't know what that is, but believe me, its a lot worse than the ear probe that the doctor sticks in your ear. Anyhow, we made it! All we have to do is just watch you closely for the next couple days, and hopefully the fever is long gone by now. Then this Friday, we get to go back for your 2 month check-up and you'll get your first shots. You won't like that either... but just like last night, we'll all get through it together.

Love,

The 'rents.
