A New Era

Last year, when I was pregnant, Albert and I had the idea of moving to a bigger apartment within our building. We had contacted housing services at Columbia and requested to transfer to the bigger apartment. They approved, and we agreed to move in the second week of January. Of course, being the naive expectant parents we were, we didn't know just how much a newborn can consume your life. Once Izzie was here, we decided not to move and stay put. Well, May rolled around, and once people started moving out of the building again, we decided to ask if we can make the move again. Luckily, there was a vacant apartment, and we decided to make the move.

We spent the last 3 days moving and packing all whilst trying to maintain some kind of schedule for Izzie. Today, Albert and I walked through our old apartment for the last time, and I started to feel a wave of nostalgia come over me. This was the first home Albert and I lived in as newlyweds. We learned how to really cook our own meals, we invited many people over, and we even became Hotel Alphie for a little while. Of course, this was also the first home that Izzie has ever lived in. We survived the newborn phase with her, and we really learned how to be a family.

Anyway, now we're on to (slightly) bigger and better things, but here is one last family photo in our now "old" place.

We moved out of our first (smaller) apt when J was just a little older than I is. We went through all the same feelings. Honestly, towards the end, we kind of hated that tiny, cluttered place but as we were leaving it I couldn't help but feel a little sad at leaving all those memories behind! But now we're so much happier in our nicer, bigger apartment! Yay! I can't wait to hear about all the exciting memories you'll make in your new apt!

Congratulations and good luck! We moved into our house when Carter was ~8-9 months old. Definitely a challenge to move with a mobile baby! We've been here a year now, and still have so much to do!
